Best Dental Care Routine
Proper dental care can help you enjoy a lifetime of good dental health. Good dental hygiene is one of the cornerstones of a good dental care routine. Plaque and bacteria are constantly forming in your mouth, which is why Dr. Ghasri, dentist in West Hollywood, encourages each of her patients to establish and maintain a good dental hygiene routine.
Brushing
Apply a pea-sized amount of toothpaste to a soft-bristled toothbrush. Hold the toothbrush at a 45-degree angle, and brush from side to side for the length of one tooth. Repeat until you have completed all upper and lower teeth on the front, back and biting surfaces. Brush the tongue as well in order to remove extra bacteria. The entire process should take about two minutes. Rinse thoroughly.
Flossing
After brushing, teeth should be flossed in order to remove plaque and bacteria from between the teeth. Wrap about 18 inches of floss around one finger and hold the other end around a finger on the opposite hand. Leave about two inches of floss free to use. Gently guide the floss between your teeth and scrub it along the sides of each tooth to remove any plaque or food particles. As you move from tooth to tooth, unwind the floss from one finger and rewind it to the other finger so that you are using new floss for each set of teeth.
After brushing and flossing, use an antibacterial or fluoridated mouth rinse in order to remove extra bacteria, protect and strengthen teeth.
