Main Oral Cancer Symptoms
Oral cancer is a major concern our West Hollywood dentist has for cigarette smokers or anyone uses smokeless tobacco, but there are countless other causes of oral cancer as well. There are several different forms of oral cancer including salivary gland cancer and lymphoma. These are life threating diseases but the risks can be greatly decreased when they are diagnosed and treated early. To do so, it is important to know what the symptoms of oral cancer are so you can receive the help you need immediately if you spot any of them.
Red and white patches in the mouth are one of the most common signs or oral cancer. Lumps or bumps in the face or neck signal that the lymph nodes are being overused, which can be a clear sign of lymphoma. Rough areas of skin in and around the mouth are often seen as one of the earliest signs of salivary gland cancer because the mouth is not producing saliva the way it should be.
There are many other symptoms to look out for including oral bleeding, which may also be a sign of gingivitis, tenderness, numbness, and chronic sore throat. As a general rule, any time you notice something out of the ordinary with your mouth, you should contact your dentist for an evaluation.
